Most Aussie men are reluctant to discuss their health, or even acknowledge the need for regular check-ups with their GP; only 49% of Australian men will see their GP at least once a year for an annual check-up, with this figure dropping to 36% for men aged 24-44. Both figures are significantly less than the proportion of Australian men who are overweight or obese (63.4%) – itself a critical factor in long term quality of life and potential health complications.
Luke Cridland from MANDATE took the challenge to inspire every day Aussie men to own their health and make some lifestyle changes during our 2018 MANDATE campaign. Luke is a self-proclaimed sugar addict and ran a blog over the months of June and July to document his lifestyle changes to overcome his addiction and get back in shape.
